Steps of the Processing Cycle in Computin
The processing cycle in computing refers to the systematic sequence of steps a computer follows to process data and produce meaningful results. These steps form the backbone of how computers operate, and they generally involve four main stages: Input, Processing, Storage, and Output.
1. Input
• This is the first stage where data is collected from external sources (e.g., user input, sensors, or files).
• Input devices like keyboards, mice, microphones, or sensors capture raw data.
• Example: Typing numbers into a calculator or uploading a file for processing.
2. Processing
• In this stage, the raw input data is manipulated and transformed into meaningful information using the central processing unit (CPU).
• The processing may involve calculations, comparisons, decision-making, or logical operations.
• Example: Adding two numbers entered by the user or filtering data based on specific criteria.
