Steps of the Processing Cycle in Computin

The processing cycle in computing refers to the systematic sequence of steps a computer follows to process data and produce meaningful results. These steps form the backbone of how computers operate, and they generally involve four main stages: Input, Processing, Storage, and Output.

1. Input

This is the first stage where data is collected from external sources (e.g., user input, sensors, or files).

Input devices like keyboards, mice, microphones, or sensors capture raw data.

Example: Typing numbers into a calculator or uploading a file for processing.

2. Processing

In this stage, the raw input data is manipulated and transformed into meaningful information using the central processing unit (CPU).

The processing may involve calculations, comparisons, decision-making, or logical operations.

Example: Adding two numbers entered by the user or filtering data based on specific criteria.
